Hi, I'm an Australian, but i was born in Hong Kong and the last time I got a Hong Kong Home Return Card. I want to travel to China, but I'm thinking about getting there via Vietnam or Laos. I'm just wondering is it possible to use the card to get into China via those borders, or only through the shenzhen-hong kong border? Resolved Question: Do you think the media hype reporting of HIV cases in the Philippines very alarming?

Our government insist that the Philippines is a low HIV incident country and the media often reports that the Philippine government has concealed the extent of the HIV/AIDS problem. I don't usually believe in our government which concealed not only HIV incident but almost anything or everything that is happening in the country. Not only with HIV but also to hepatitis A & B. Several factors put the Philippines in danger of a broader HIV/AIDS epidemic. They include increasing population mobility within and outside of the Philippine islands; a conservative culture, adverse to publicly discussing issues of a sexual nature; rising levels of sex workers, causal sex, unsafe sex, and injecting drug use; high STI prevalence and poor health-seeking behaviors among at-risk groups; gender inequality; weak integration of HIV/AIDS responses in local government activities; shortcomings in prevention campaigns; inadequate social and behavioral research and monitoring; and the persistence of stigma and discrimination, which results in the relative invisibility of knowledge about HIV among the Filipino population is troubling. Approximately two-thirds of young women lack comprehensive knowledge on HIV transmission, and 90 percent of the population of reproductive age believe you can contract HIV by sharing a meal with someone. One of the growing problem is the lack of monitoring of migrant workers esp. our millions of OFW, myself included, that is coming in and out of the country. Our population is getting bigger through the years, that is why this is also causing our growth to stand still and our country is not that big either. While compare to China which has the biggest population on earth I suppose but their land area is tremendously huge compare to the Philippines. Probably it takes months to travel China's great wall back & forth. Is the Philippine media helping in the campaign against HIV or it is adding to the problem at hand. I myself think that our media is a tool that is helping us to shed lights on every topic and providing use answers where the government are shut and mum to give enough information to the public. Hi, Basically I need to know if I need a visa for a flight changeover....here's what Im planning: I am travelling China in October and will be applying for a 30 day visa. From China I am planning to stay in Hong Kong for 2 weeks and then fly to Hanoi (Vietnam). I have been looking for flights direct from Hong Kong to Hanoi but they seem to be very expensive (£200+ pp one way). The alternative would be to changeover at Guangzhou but my 30 day visa for China would have run out by then. Would I need to extend my visa for the stopover? Hi, I am planning to travel china in november from Singapore on dates 5 Nov - 17 Nov. I am a frequent and passionate traveller and have seen most of the south east asia. The plan will be totally back pack style with the following itinerary. Singapore - Guilin - Yangshuo - Kunming - Dali - Lijiang - Shangrlia - Xian - Beijing - Shanghai - Hangzhou - Singapore. This will involve flights,trains and buses. It looks a bit weird in this short span but this is just initial planning and will be customized later as necessary. My guess for total expenditure is 2000 SGD. Currently I have no partner along. okay, so on the middle of this month, i wanna travel to asia. I plan to travel china for about 6 months, learn the language (mandarin) and the culture. I have two options. Go straight to Macau - then I'll be in China straight away and can just go into the mainland. Will the entire country be booked out during the olympics or do you think it'll only be like Beijing etc.? The other option is to land in Bangkok first, head up north, though Laos and eventually get to China. This option I know will be good, but the problem is it'll take me about a month of rugged travel I reckon, and I've been to Thailand and Laos a few times now and i feel whilst I will enjoy it, I am backtracking a bit. I'm planning to travel China one day, and one of my destinations is Inner Mongolia. While I can probably get by with Chinese there (which I plan to study in college), I also want to learn Mongolian as spoken there. However, the only learning Mongolian books I can find teach the Khalkha dialect, which is spoken in Republic of Mongolia and uses Cyrillic for writing. I'd like to learn the dialect used in Inner Mongolia of PRC, which uses the traditional Mongolian script (apparently signs have to be in both Mongolian and Chinese there). So with what reference books can I learn the variety of Mongolian spoken in Inner Mongolia? I've asked this before but I have never gotten any serious answers so I'm asking again... read more

First of all, I've gotten various negative point of views about this. I am 18, and I have no work experience.. That's all true. Here the story. I want to travel China, I have a professor that can get me into this educational program where I teach English, for a set time, and I get paid for it, of course. Housing is free, and food I need to purchase. I chose 2 months to teach. People tell me that since I've never been to China and that I am 18 with no work experience, I am going to "sink" -- since they feel that I don't know how to swim. Resolved Question: Will Chinese technology reach sophistication?

Will the Chinese technology reach the Western / Eastern Asian style sophistication? As of now, many of the Chinese products are regarded as unsophisticated, poor quality. But I imagine if they reach sophistication like the Western and S. Korean / Japanese, then they would be litterally "dominating" world power.
